During recent months we have considered the best route for pursuing the Student market for the UK and following numerous meetings and discussions with different people and organisations including the British Council and British Embassy in Manila, we feel we now have a viable path to follow, which we believe satisfies the criteria of all parties involved and are now involved in a number of options for students going to the UK.
For Graduate Nurses, subject to current assessment, we offer a BSC in Health and Social Care through the University of Hertfordshire a BSc (Hons) International Nursing, which is a two-year course with the option of extending. We are also looking at the possibility of offering a BSC in Mental Health or Learning Disabilities, but this is still under discussion.
The advantage for the overseas Graduate is that they will already have earned credits through their own Degree Course in their Country of origin and will then be faced with only finding the balance of the credits required to earn a UK degree.
Nurses would benefit from this route as once their degree was achieved they would be eligible to gain work experience in the UK for a further 12 months and during this period can undertake their ONP (Overseas Nursing Program) and an employer can apply for a Work Permit for them without the need for the student to exit the country.
With either Option the Student is entitled to work legally for more than 20 hours a week to enable the assessment for both Diploma and Degree Courses, enabling them to fund the educational aspect of their stay in the UK and to earn a living to support themselves and their families.
We have worked closely with the British Council and the Visa Section at the Embassy to ensure that these courses fulfil all the stipulations of a Student coming to the UK to study as long as they are able to comply with all other Student Visa requirements. They also recognise the UK need for health care workers upgrading their skills to meet current needs and that Filipino's are the preferred choice of Employers.

For the Student with limited medical training but without a Degree in his/her own Country a range of Health and Social Care courses through an International Management Qualification (offered by the Institute of Leadership and Management – now owned by City & Guilds) linked to the Health Care course they are following.
They will still be assessed in the normal way, but at the same time will be expected and encouraged to provide written evidence through projects and papers submitted to the Assessors on why they should take certain actions not just being seen to competently undertake them. Occasional group sessions may be required, but it is envisaged that some of the theoretical content will be delivered in Manila by appointed and trained Assessors before their departure to the UK, allowing them the opportunity of hitting the ground running.
In addition we are now offering standard placements for non-medical related activities in many different sectors such as HRM, IT, Accountancy, Engineering, Education, etc. As with all our programmes a full time paid Work Placement is required to allow the student to undertake and complete the course they are enrolled on.
We are working closely with a number of Institutions and are constantly updating our programmes.
