ILM

The ILM First Line Management qualification is intended for people who work in factories, offices, hospitals, care homes, leisure centres and in the voluntary sectors.

The candidates will be or are working towards being managers of small teams with particular responsibility for the management of resources and people.

The programme is designed to improve the performance of both the team and the individual through practical study of the following units:

  • Managing Resources

  • Managing People
  • Communication
  • Managing Information

All the qualifications being studied are based in a working environment, which will provide the candidate with practical experience of care home management both in terms of the management function (ILM – FLM) and the technical requirement (NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care).

The assessment for all the qualifications is made on work based assignments in the care home sector or in other areas if not involved in the Care Industry in which case your Work Placement will be chosen to suit your own educational and career background to achieve the required educational outcome.

The successful outcome of the course of study will certify that the candidate has the knowledge and practical skills required to be a deputy manager of a medium sized care home or the manager of a small care home or will demonstrate general Managerial Skills in areas outside of care.
